Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither should a home be.

When you’re looking to change your home, whether that’s a gentle refresh or a full renovation, it’s worth remembering that soft furnishings, art and objects don’t need to be done all at once. Often it is better to approach these things slowly, thoughtfully, and over time.

Choosing deliberately, rather than impulse buying or making do for the sake of speed, will always bring a more long lasting and satisfying result. Quick fixes and cheap stand-ins might feel helpful in the moment, but they're often not what you really needed or wanted and end up contributing to wastage.

Taking the time to look a little closer at what you're buying really matters because it needs to be able to age and last. How has the piece been made? What is the fabric? When you're living and seeing something everyday you will notice if something is 100% linen or cotton or a man-made fibre.

A home, like Rome, is worth building well.
